"People say that I should have been a salesman because of my ability to speak well person to person and to large audiences, but I disagreed,” said Julian. “It’s important to me that I believe in what I promote.”
In his case, Julian is selling a service he believes to be the best for folks that want tasteful announcements and someone to facilitate their event plans professionally from their very first contact to the very last song played.
Most everyone agrees that entertainment can make or break any special event. Until 25 years ago, live music was the only choice for special event musical entertainment. Today, with the advent of Professional Mobile Disc Jockeys, people are able to hand-tailor their event with non-stop, unlimited, authentic versions of their favorite songs by the original recording artists. This level of service started with records and has rightfully evolved to over 18,000 songs available in a professional unix-based DJ computer system. Clients have more control over staging, acoustics and volume than ever before. Julian honestly feels that this level of qualitative, personalized service has changed the entertainment market for the better. There is a whole host of Mobile DJs and you might have a real task selecting the one most appropriate for your special event. Your DJ will project to your family and friends your taste in music and announcements.
Pro Entertainment always arrives at the event site an hour or more before your guests. This allows ample time to set-up and sound check the equipment. This is done so that Julian can go over the itinerary with other vendors so they aren’t scrambling to get things at the last minute. Julian is at the helm, coordinating, announcing and keeping everyone informed for a smooth, successful event.
The most popular DJs are booked at least 9-12 months in advance with prime dates such as weekends and holidays booking the earliest. Please do remember, you really do get what you pay for. I’ll leave you with something a longtime wedding coordinator told me many years ago and it still rings true today, and I quote, the bitter taste of poor quality lingers long after the bargain price is forgotten.
Finally, Julian realizes that he never started out entertaining at weddings to end up being “the old DJ guy in the corner.” So at 38, he does photograph at weddings locally as well as nationally. He concurrently runs both companies (Pro Entertainment and Jenkins Photography) with his wife, Kristin, taking a portion of their photography clients and Julian taking only one event a day, either photography or music wise, whatever comes first.
